Balls, Bullets and Boots","thumb_url":"bbb_title-800.jpg","photo_url":"","project_category":"Exhibition scoping, design, development, fabrication, production","project_description":"Balls, Bullets & Boots, from rugby field to battlefield is a WW100 commemorative exhibition designed and produced by the New Zealand Rugby Museum, based in Palmerston North.
This captivating exhibition, set in the scene of a typical WW1 battlefield trench, uses rugby \"as the common thread to link the stories of 100 years ago with people today ... features a wide array of rare rugby images, footage and displays - including dramatised short films and touchscreen interactives.\"
Working alongside the very talented and motivated exhibition team at the New Zealand Rugby Museum, INC Creative was commissioned to design a 'table top' touchscreen interactive in which two 55 inch touchscreens were fitted into custom-built tables. In addition to the touchscreen interactives, Balls, Bullets & Boots also features several audio-visual displays using motion-sensor activation - the videos start playing once a visitor is detected nearby. The team at INC also specified, developed and installed the touchscreens, audio-visual and motion-sensor equipment as well as editing and formatting the audio-visual content.","project_description_short":"Balls, Bullets & Boots, from rugby field to battlefield is a WW100 commemorative exhibition designed and produced by the New Zealand Rugby Museum, based in Palmerston North.","client_id":1,"active":1,"client":"New Zealand Rugby Museum, New Zealand","client_url":"http:\/\/rugbymuseum.co.nz\/"},{"id":3,"project_short_name":"Food Glorious Food","project_full_name":"Food Glorious Food
An Army Marches On Its Stomach","thumb_url":"fgf_title.jpg","photo_url":"","project_category":"Exhibition design and interactive","project_description":"The National Army Museum Te Mata Toa in Waiouru has a long-standing relationship with our partner - Inc Creative when looking for innovative and engaging interactive exhibition content. Their latest exhibition, Food glorious food, takes the visitor away from the trenches and into the cook houses of the New Zealand Division during World War One.
The 'Moments in Time' interactive takes the user back in time to the WW1 era to show the kinds of facilities, food and ingredients that were available during a period where modern-day commodities were scarce.
Featuring several interactive sections that will appeal to all ages and levels of interest: From a series of photo walls focusing on historic footage of recreational facilities such as the Soldiers Clubs, the Y.M.C.A and the bars & canteens serving alcohol, to a section showing recipes in a book which also features a touchscreen game presented by the character 'Corporal Ratty' - where the user 'catches' the ingredients of Hokey Pokey biscuits in a bowl that a rat knocks off the shelf when it runs past.
In addition to the design, development and building of the interactive application, Inc Creative also specified and supplied the 55 inch 'Interactive flat panel' touchscreen that was fitted into a table custom-built by the National Army Museum to compliment the exhibition space. Using Kinect Technology as the primary interactive mechanism, the team at Inc Creative designed the interface - which displayed in both English and Malay languages, completed the rigging of the 3D model skeleton and developed the software to run it.
Our lead developer Mike Abernethy also travelled to Malaysia to install the interactive at the Tech Dome in Penang. Since it is a long way to travel for servicing and maintenance, he also developed software that also allows us to monitor the system remotely from NZ.
The Skelton Moves is an entertaining, educational and highly engaging interactive. We developed a 12\" touchscreen kiosk interface and accompanying content management system that allows the museum's team to profile the lives of local writers and storytellers in their gallery space with ease. The simple interface allows Puke Ariki's archival audio-visual and collection material to shine through, layering up the tales of these regional literati and their connections to the region and allowing visitors to dip into what takes their fancy.
Ideal for smaller museum spaces, this web-based exhibit can be easily added to or content changed by the client and can run offline (after a daily, early morning 'check-in' to update content files.","project_description_short":"Our client wanted an intimate one-to-one digital experience that made the visitor feel a little like they were peeking into a writer's notebook.","client_id":3,"active":1,"client":"Puke Ariki Museum, New Plymouth, New Zealand","client_url":"http:\/\/pukeariki.com\/"},{"id":6,"project_short_name":"Artefact Digitising Unit","project_full_name":"Artefact Digitising Unit (ADU)","thumb_url":"adu_img_thumb_large.jpg","photo_url":"","project_category":"Structure development, fabrication, manufacturing, software and distribution","project_description":"In early 2015, the Auckland War Memorial Museum (AM) launched it's Online Cenotaph - a website upon which to 'Explore and contribute to our rich biographical database of New Zealand service personnel.'
In addition to the launch of the Cenotaph Database, AM commissioned INC Creative, through it's strategic partner The Orange Group, to build 9 Artefact Digitising Units (ADUs). These ADU's were designed as mobile touch-screen kiosks allowing users to contribute information to the Online Cenotaph. The key design of these Digitising Units, is the ability to either take a photo of an item by placing it in the built-in photo booth, or uploading a file via a USB stick.
The team at INC Creative not only designed and built the 'Touchscreen App', but sourced and specified all hardware as well as commissioning the services of engineers to build the aluminium kiosks - all of which when combined provided some interesting challenges. Nonetheless, creative problem solving is what we do to provide yet another successful project for a happy client.\r\n","project_description_short":"In early 2015, the Auckland War Memorial Museum (AM) launched it's Online Cenotaph - a website upon which to 'Explore and contribute to our rich biographical database of New Zealand service personnel.'","client_id":5,"active":1,"client":"Auckland War Memorial Museum, Auckland, New Zealand","client_url":"http:\/\/www.aucklandmuseum.com\/"},{"id":7,"project_short_name":"Hyundai Motor New Zealand","project_full_name":"Hyundai Motor New Zealand

Working alongside the Marketing Department at National HQ, the team at INC sourced, specified, imported and installed the 55 inch touchscreen kiosks which are currently in use throughout New Zealand. As well as assisting with initial architecture, this project required constant communication with an Eastern European software developer to build the 'App' that is now installed on the kiosks. INC also put in the leg-work during the roll-out by travelling around the country installing each of the kiosks at dealerships. An ongoing maintenance contract is in place ensuring the kiosks continue to work at optimal efficiency. There are two breaks to choose from, both with their own wave breaks and locations; Rocky Point and as the locals known as Bogworks. To simulate the locations, a local photographer used a Jetski to get out to the breaks and took panoramic photos which we then used to translate in the 3D game software, Unity3D.","project_description_short":"Grommet is a highly immersive surfing game built for Puke Ariki's 'Surf' exhibition.","client_id":3,"active":1,"client":"Puke Ariki Museum, New Plymouth, New Zealand","client_url":"http:\/\/pukeariki.com\/"},{"id":9,"project_short_name":"Kids City Science Gallery","project_full_name":"Kids City Science Gallery","thumb_url":"kcs-img-6-large.jpg","photo_url":"","project_category":"","project_description":"The team at IES was responsible for the full design, fabrication, installation and staff training for the Science Gallery at Kids City in Phnom Penh. Working closely with the owner we provided the complete design and build within the 500 sq m gallery. We themed over 50 exhibits with 5 themes which allowed us to develop teacher resources for use by visiting school groups. We customised the design and fabrication of the exhibits to allow local joiners to build the bases which helped reduce the overall cost and to employ local people as part of the development. The exhibits were designed to fit on a standardised table top allowing for them to be easily interchanged with new exhibits by incorporating them onto existing bases, once again reducing the cost to bring in new exhibits. Our designer provided a full lighting and cabling plan and his designs for each of the themed area were dynamic and captivating creating a vibrancy through the whole gallery. As a lead up to the official opening we provided a 5 day staff training programme that included product knowledge, customer service and how to interact with visitors to the centre ensuring that not only was the science gallery a fun and interactive space for visitors it was also a place where staff had the knowledge and skill to provide a visit beyond expectations.","project_description_short":"The team at IES was responsible for the full design, fabrication, installation and staff training for the Science Gallery at Kids City in Phnom Penh.","client_id":7,"active":1,"client":"Mr Meng Hieng, Phnom Penh, Cambodia","client_url":""},{"id":10,"project_short_name":"Techdome","project_full_name":"Techdome","thumb_url":"techdome-img-1.jpg","photo_url":"","project_category":"","project_description":"The team at IES were engaged to set up a new science centre in Penang. The centre was to be established in a 60 metre dome which was an ex-sports stadium in the centre of George Town.
In close consultation with the Techdome committee we provided over 100 exhibits for the centre. Utilising the network of specialists we provided all the aspects required to get the centre up and running. Our designer produced innovative plans for the exhibits with the table tops being produced by our fabricators. The exhibits were designed to be easily moved in order to allow flexibility of spaces within the dome and we provided plans for local supplies to fabricate the bases and many of the interior design components for the centre. This helped to keep the overall costs down.
In keeping with the nature of the building the interior design incorporated futuristic graphics and the use of hexagonal panels to form divisions between the themes throughout the dome. We used projection systems to project onto the hexagonal panels which added to the theming of areas by providing animation and brightness accentuating the exciting activities that could be found in the themed area behind them. A bright, stimulating environment was created in the cavernous dome with creative graphics throughout and high quality, hands on interactive exhibits including the first freestanding vertical drop slide. Curriculum based teacher resources were provide for each of the themed areas along with some additional teaching equipment and all staff attended a five day staff training workshop as a lead up to the opening of the Techdome.\r\n","project_description_short":"The team at IES were engaged to set up a new science centre in Penang.","client_id":8,"active":1,"client":"Penang Tech Centre Berhad, Penang, Malaysia","client_url":"http:\/\/www.techdomepenang.org\/"},{"id":11,"project_short_name":"GAST","project_full_name":"Gansu Association of Science and Technology","thumb_url":"gansu_img_1_large.jpg","photo_url":"","project_category":"","project_description":"IES have specialist designers who work closely with our customers to provide concept designs for projects.
